FlatLands is a derived research dataset constructed from existing indoor scene
datasets. The FlatLands authors provide derived BEV floor maps, masks,
metadata, statistics, provenance records, benchmark descriptions, release text,
and project-site materials.

This repository and website do not relicense upstream RGB-D captures, meshes,
point clouds, panoramas, or original source archives. Those source assets remain
governed by their original dataset terms.

The media shown in the README and project site is included to explain the
FlatLands benchmark and paper. Where figures are derived from upstream indoor
scene datasets, users must still comply with the applicable upstream terms
listed in [LICENSES.md](LICENSES.md). Per-observation `metadata.json` source
fields are the authority for determining which upstream terms apply to each
FlatLands observation.

Figures reproduced from the FlatLands paper are copyright (c) 2026 the
FlatLands authors and are available under the paper's
[CC BY 4.0 license](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

Source dataset names, company and institution names, trademarks, and logos are
the property of their respective owners. Marks for Technical University of
Munich, Apple, Matterport, ScanNet, Zillow, and ScanNet++ are displayed solely
to identify the provenance of the six upstream datasets. Their appearance does
not imply sponsorship or endorsement of FlatLands. The site uses marks obtained
from the respective official project, institution, company, or GitHub
organization pages and does not grant any rights to those marks.

The Hugging Face, arXiv, and GitHub destination icons are sourced from Simple
Icons and are used only to identify their respective external services. The
underlying names and marks remain the property of their respective owners.

Use of FlatLands is permitted for academic research, benchmarking, and
reproducibility subject to the release notice in [LICENSE](LICENSE). Commercial
use is permitted only where allowed by every applicable upstream source dataset
license or by separate written permission from the relevant rights holders.

If an upstream source term is more restrictive than the FlatLands release
notice, the upstream source term controls for observations derived from that
source.
